Ahmedabad Ka Auto Wala (Amdavad no Rikshawalo)

Usually, Middle-class people deal with rickshaw driver for going anywhere. Before the ICT/Internet & Smart Phones came in the picture, there was no option for Middle class except auto rickshaw.

Now, the many other options are available for Middle-class people like Ola cab, Uber, Jugnoo Rickshaw, Meru cab and many more. Let, coming on point,

During Sabarmati Festival 2015, I had met a rickshaw driver, Uday Bhai.

Ahmedabad’s first trust based gift-economy rickshaw that gives riders the chance to go from one place to another, on a pay-it-forward basis: someone before you has paid for you, and you can pay-forward whatever you want for those after you.

The rickshaw itself is unique, the meter always reads zero; inside are inspiring reading materials; a truth and love container at the back holds various snacks for the riders; there’s a trash can inside so you don’t have to litter on the streets; at the back of rickshaw, it proudly reads Mahatma Gandhi’s statement: Love All, serve All. Udaybhai, is riding this matchless rickshaw for about last five years and living a life full of content while serving humanity in his own unique way.

I discussed with Udaybhai regarding his experiences and reasons behind that great work, He told that “Own satisfaction & happiness are the main reasons”. :)
